Today I started my personal blog.  This is Challenge #1 in a list of 20 challenges offered at a common prep staff development session at Lincoln High School today.  I think the presentation today on Web 2.0 was very timely, useful and interesting.  Nice job by Kelly and Kurt.  I like the challenge(s) they offered to our staff to "try out" several different options that use the web in communicating, teaching, interacting, etc.

One concept presented today was the change in how "news" is being defined, created, reported, and published. Access to many new tools gives that ability to the general public rather than a select group of people to be involved in this process of news reporting.  This is an obvious and significant change from recent past.

A second concept worth noting was shared by Jay Forney.  Jay said he felt like some long retired teachers must have felt when technology was first being adopted by our school system, many years ago.  It is exciting, challenging, scary, time consuming, and just plain change.  How do we keep up with the options and changes available to kids and educators via the web?  This seems like a good opportunity to begin to learn and explore some pieces to this puzzle of change.
